What are Driver Guides?

WE ARE PROFESSIONAL BLUE BADGE GUIDES who take you sightseeing in our own luxury, air conditioned vehicles, all of which are correctly insured and licensed.

Tell the guide your interests and we can help you plan your day avoiding time-wasting lines. We know the off beat places, street markets and good pubs - very important for lunch - and hidden London. For an introductory overview of London, in 3-4 hours, you will see and photograph the major sites including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.

A full day means you will have time to see the Changing of the Guard plus the interior of one of the major sites, and possibly visit one of London's many museums and art galleries. Once at the site we take you for your own personalised tour at your own pace. Another day in London may include Greenwich, the home of Greenwich Mean Time and zero longitude and the fascinating National Maritime Museum.

Flexibility is the key - there is no set tour. There is always time for browsing antiques shops or a visit to Harrods. The most popular short trips out of London for half a day are to Windsor Castle, favourite residence of Queen Elizabeth II, and Hampton Court Palace where King Henry VIII took most of his 6 wives and where today children of all ages may lose themselves in the hedge maze.

Full day trips out of London show you the glorious English countryside en route to: Stonehenge and Bath for prehistoric and Roman sites; the gardens and castles of Kent; Portsmouth with the D-Day museum and Admiral Nelson's flagship 'Victory' in the historic naval dockyard; Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon which may be combined with Warwick Castle, Cotswolds villages or the ancient university city of Oxford.

These suggestions are a fraction of the palaces, historic houses, ancient monuments, gardens and towns to visit within a day of London. The trips can be arranged in any amount of combinations, depending on time available.

If you have more time we can arrange itineraries for overnight tours of any length, the best known being: King Arthur's Cornwall and the West Country with some beautiful gardens and stately homes; the Lake District with its stunning scenery and literary connections; James Herriot's Yorkshire and York Minster; the mountains and 13C castles in Wales or whisky, haggis, tartan and bagpipes in Scotland.
