TOURS OF THE
HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

Following their success over the last six summer recesses, guided tours of the Palace of Westminster will be resuming on Saturday 28 July 2008, and Tour Guides Ltd have once again been awarded the contract to supply the guides.

Tours conducted by Blue Badge Guides will run Monday to Saturday until Saturday 27 September. The tours will run every few minutes and last one and a quarter hours. Opening times are:

• July, August: Full days (09:15 - 16:30) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays
  Afternoons (13:15 - 16:30) on Wednesdays and Thursdays;
• September: Full days (09:15 - 16:30) on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays
  Afternoons (13:15 - 16:30) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays;
• Closed Sundays and Bank Holidays

Excellent anecdote-rich tours during the summer recess. If you've only ever seen the inside of the Palace of Westminster on the telly, take the opportunity to explore a building that oozes history and contemporary intrigue.

There will be daily tours in French, German, Spanish and Italian at 10:00 and 11:45 (full days), and at 14:00 and 15:45 (Mon - Sat).

Tours include the Processional Route taken by the Sovereign on the annual State Opening of Parliament, the Chambers of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, St Stephen's Hall, site of the original House of Commons, and Westminster Hall, with its magnificent hammerbeam roof, scene of many important events - among them the trial of King Charles I and the recent Lying in State of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
